Born and raised in Hopewell, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. Bishop and Mae Lee Hairston; and stepfather, Joseph Hairston. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 25 years, Thomas E. Overby; and her best friend, Harold L.

Lampman. She is survived by her sons, Michael W. Lampman and his wife, Patricia, Mark A. Lampman and his wife, Marjorie; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth J. Lampman, all of Chester, Va.

She is also survived by her brother, Harry S. Bishop Jr. and his wife, Glenda; and nephews, Jason Bishop and Brett Bishop, all of Prince George, Va. She was a graduate of Hopewell High School and attended Pan American Business School. She proudly retired after a 20-year career with the State of Virginia in 2009.

Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, antiques and her time with her family and friends. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Va. A private service will be held at the Appomattox Cemetery on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. On April 17, 2020, Annis Dale Sams, of Henrico County, left this life. Dale, who was a native of Richmond was born on January 5, 1963. She attended J. R. Tucker High School and enjoyed a variety of careers and held many interests in her life.

Dale's caring and generous nature always shined during the holidays, where she took great joy in opening her home to her friends and family. She reserved a special place in her heart for children and animals, as was shown through her enthusiasm for coaching youth cheerleading and working in child care, and she absolutely loved spoiling her pugs, Elly, Violet and Poppy. Dale is survived by her mother, Ann Hubbard; and stepfather, Carroll Hubbard of Smithf ield, her brothers, Travis and Alan Sams of Richmond, her sister-in-law, Erin D. Sams of Richmond, her nieces, Carter and Abigail Sams of Richmond, her nephew, Christopher Sams of Richmond, and her beloved friend and companion, Philip Kinton of Midlothian, Va. Dale's remains will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Gardens at a later date.

SMITH, Mr. James Patterson 84, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on April 17, 2020. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Smith; his brother, Bobby Smith; and his sister, Inez Eddy. He is survived by five children and their spouses, James and Paula Smith, Kevin and Barbara Smith, Alan and Jennie Smith, Laura and Richard Smith and Amy and Ivan Caplinger. Jim is also survived by his brother and his sister-in-law, Stuart and Donna Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was born and raised in Danville, the son of Robert and Margaret (Phelps) Smith. After school, Jim joined the U.S. Air Force, becoming an aircraft mechanic, working on jet aircrafts including B-47s and B-52s. He continued his aviation career working for the Federal Aviation Administration at Richmond International Airport as an electronic technician for more than 30 years. Following his retirement, Jim undertook a second career caring for and nurturing each of his grandchildren, April, Emily, Shelby, Sydney, Dylan, Kian, River, Skyla, Ocean, J.

and Nathan. Their grandfather will always hold a special place in each of their hearts! Jim was also a devoted member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church since 1972. As a man of faith, he took great joy during his years at Walnut Grove, serving on a variety of councils and community projects. Fredric Porter, 84, passed away on April 9, 2020, after a brief yet valiant battle against the C0VID-19 virus. He is now united with his lovely wife of 62 years, Sheila Jean (Lovins) Wagner. Fred was born in Mud Folk, in the beautiful mountains of Tazewell County, Virginia, relocating in 1978 to Mechanicsville, Virginia. Fred was a 1956 graduate of Emory Henry College. Mr.

Wagner was a third generation Master Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Virginia, Metropolitan 10 and was past Master of Dove 51 He and his wife Sheila were the former owners of McLean's Restaurant in Richmond, Virginia. Fred grew up the son of a coal miner, where he learned the lessons of hard work on the family farm. He applied those valuable lessons in many business ventures and a successful 30-year career at the Virginia Department of Transportation. Throughout his adult life, Fred was a dedicated father and husband and built a wonderful extended family. He was a jack-of -all-trades and could grow tobacco, plant a garden, raise cattle, hunt, fish and fix most anything with bailing wire and duct tape.

As a young man in his twenties, Fred built, by himself, his family's first house in Washington County, Virginia. Throughout his life, Fred enjoyed water-skiing, motorcycle riding, running, traveling throughout the United States and Europe and especially listening to live bluegrass music at the many local venues through the Hanover County area. Fred's zest for life was only surpassed by his ability to make friends. Yet more than all these accomplishments, Fred was the wonderful patriarch to a loving family. Fred is survived by four children, Danita Rhett (Roland), Darren Waggoner, Dionna Kelleher (Barry) and Derek Wagner; and a special daughter-in-law, Cassandra Nelson; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Vincent (John), Summer Tocci (Andrew), Dylan Waggoner (Eugena), Brooke Waggoner, Trent Kelleher, Miranda Kelleher, Jade Kelleher, Devan Wagner, Joshua Wagner and Lauren Wagner; two great-grandchildren, Bronwyn Leigh Tocci and Dean Dawes Waggoner; four brothers, Bill Wagner, Allan Wagner (Judy), Larry Wagner and Lynn Wagner (Barbara).

Early in her secretarial career, Laura worked at the Federal Reserve Bank, and she later retired from the Internal Revenue Service where her organizational skills and strong work ethic shone through. People were attracted to her kind nature and loving spirit, even to the point that passersby would strike up friendly conversations with her. Family was her priority, and she generously lavished them with love and compliments. She will be missed by all who experienced the blessing of spending time with this lovely lady. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date, to be determined.

Tracy was the son of Barbara Cordell Taliaferro and the late Tommie Lee Taliaferro. He is survived by his wife, Debra Mallory; his sister, Lynn Taliaferro Moore (Michael); his niece, Amanda Lyndsey Moore, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and his nephew, Kenneth Andrew Moore, Sacramento, Calif. He was the grandson of the late Lindsey and Viola Cordell of Anderson, S.C. and the late Conway and Ola Taliaferro of Nashville, Tenn. At the time of his passing, Tracy was most rcently serving as the Chief Executive Officer for Crater Community Hospice in Petersburg, Va.

Tracy was a Life Member, volunteer and legal advisor to the Prince George Emergency Crew and a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management team of the Old Dominion Emergency Medical Services Alliance. Tracy was a licensed as a certified respiratory therapy practitioner and practiced at Petersburg General Hospital (now Southside Regional Medical Center) from 1980 to 1996. Tracy attended University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law and earned his Juris Doctorate in 1996. He also became a licensed private pilot while in law school.

He was proud of his work as a guardian ad litem protecting the interests of elder adults at risk of physical, mental and financial abuse. He was also a longtime member of Monumental Baptist Church. More recently, Tracy was a member of the Tri-Cities Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA). A drive-in funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2020, in the parking lot of the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
